New Marketing break

A local newspaper, the Utica Observer Dispatch will check my book "A Curmudgeon's True Tales of the Outdoors"  and mention it in the Sunday Outdoor Column. I have followed John Pitarttesi, the writer for a long time and respect his views on the outdoor activities of hunting, fishing and so on. Ironically, I delivered this paper in my hometown of Brookfield, NY when I was a boy along with my brothers. He wasn't around then since I am a bit older than he is.

We hunted, fished, trapped and played sports and my, how things have changed. We needed a warm red jacket andboots and gloves and a little knowledge of the woods and the quarry back then. Now I could not afford to participate in hunting.  It seems that I need special ammo, special scents, special camo, trail cameras, feed plots and proper knowledge of baits and so on. Along with the pickup truck, quadrunner and all the other equipment it would run around $50,000 dollars to get back in the activity.

I could buy a lot of kobo beef for that!

SUCESS!

Yesterday my breakfast club met at D&D's Diner in Sherburne.
We show up there quite often and I have known Dianne for quite a while. I offered my book,

A Curmudgeon's True Tales of the Outdoors: Outdoor stories of hunting, fishing, some funny, scary or odd. [Paperback]

Neale J McClintock

for her reading enjoyment a couple of days ago. When she handed it back she smiled and said, "That was fun!" I guess she liked it and I asked again if she was interested in offering a few copies for sale for me with a bit of profit for her.

She was a little cool to the idea because there is always a worry when money is involved. I assured her that she should not be concerned. It won't be a large ammount anyway so she agreed to offer it with my sign explaining the sale and she would put out a copy to see what would happen. My first attempt at outside marketing is on!

I will not shop for a Cadillac yet, but the fun continues. My next target is either the store in Brookfield or the Beaver Den Diner.  Wish me luck!

MARKETING A BOOK IS TOUGH

Marketing is tough! My first book, listed below as e book and paperback did well for the first couple of months. It sold five or more copies a month, but some of that was relatives and so on.

Now, not much is happening.  I am in the process of trying a local book sale in a frequently visited diner or a local library. I just have to gt the confidence and the nerve up to take the next step.  One diner owner took a copy of my book to read but did not respond to my request to sell the book at her establishment. We will see how that turns out tomorrow when I go to breakfast at her diner in Sherburne, NY.

I hope to have good news to report. Boy, ain't this authoring fun??  Books links follow:

Mcclint Says--- Thoughts of an old retired guy.: It has been a while since I wrote

Mcclint Says--- Thoughts of an old retired guy.: It has been a while since I wrote
A lot has happened since I last wrote. I wrote a book and it has been selling , albeit slowly, on amazon.com. It is an e book as well as a paper back. It is called"A curmudgeons True Tales Of the Outdoors" and it is a series of anecdotes about my and my relatives and friends experiences hunting, fishing and so on. It is not about trophies or killing but it is about things that can happen to people who attempt to take part in these activities. A hawk attack, bees attacking, and other stuff that can show how  tricky things can be in the great outdoors. Go to Amazon .com and type in Neale McClintock and you can get a look  at the books and there is much mor information there about my effort.

Thanks and good night!!

It has been a while since I wrote

It has been a while since I wrote on this site.

A lot has happened since the Bushy years. Obama has been elected and has been in office for two years. Much to the chagrin of the right wing conservatives the country bis going to hell since then. And, it is all Obama's fault. It took bush and his Congress eight years to take Clinton's quarter trillion dollar surplus and turn it into a thirteen trillion deficit. How come the present administration hasn't straightened it out yet??

All that has happened is that employment is finally on the rise, the stock market is back where it was BB (Before Bush) and although I am not convinced yet, that the health plan is perfect, at least more people are covered.

I still feel that the problem with our country and ITS problems is that the righties and the lefties are not playing with a full deck. They are more interested in the dogma of their political slant than they are interested in the American people. They operate under the theme of Party before Country!

Garden

Miscellaneous Musing

Current mood: hopeful

Category: News and Politics

I started some seeds yesterday and today. You know, tomato, melon, and peepper seeds. That kind. I am in a green mood today , it seems.. When I was a kid in the 40's my folks grew the Victory garden to help feed us. It was a good idea based on need at the homefront. Our troops needed what was produced to support the war effort.(WII for you youngsters who may have forgot some History). That dates me! But, anyway, I hated that garden because I had to weed a share of it and these weeds fought very well as they always do. We did get a lot of good stuff out of that patch, both fresh and preserved. It was work for everyone but it was good work.As to my planting, I have always liked fresh produce and this stuff is the freshest. I am not growing it as a Survivalist but on my retirement fixed income it may be a different story in a few years. I am at a stage in life when I can enjoy the gardening process and if I get a bumper crop maybe I will sell some of it and then I can contribute to the trickle up ecomomical program that I believe in so much.
