New Marketing break

A local newspaper, the Utica Observer Dispatch will check my book "A Curmudgeon's True Tales of the Outdoors"  and mention it in the Sunday Outdoor Column. I have followed John Pitarttesi, the writer for a long time and respect his views on the outdoor activities of hunting, fishing and so on. Ironically, I delivered this paper in my hometown of Brookfield, NY when I was a boy along with my brothers. He wasn't around then since I am a bit older than he is.

We hunted, fished, trapped and played sports and my, how things have changed. We needed a warm red jacket andboots and gloves and a little knowledge of the woods and the quarry back then. Now I could not afford to participate in hunting.  It seems that I need special ammo, special scents, special camo, trail cameras, feed plots and proper knowledge of baits and so on. Along with the pickup truck, quadrunner and all the other equipment it would run around $50,000 dollars to get back in the activity.

I could buy a lot of kobo beef for that!

SUCESS!

Yesterday my breakfast club met at D&D's Diner in Sherburne.
We show up there quite often and I have known Dianne for quite a while. I offered my book,

A Curmudgeon's True Tales of the Outdoors: Outdoor stories of hunting, fishing, some funny, scary or odd. [Paperback]

Neale J McClintock

for her reading enjoyment a couple of days ago. When she handed it back she smiled and said, "That was fun!" I guess she liked it and I asked again if she was interested in offering a few copies for sale for me with a bit of profit for her.

She was a little cool to the idea because there is always a worry when money is involved. I assured her that she should not be concerned. It won't be a large ammount anyway so she agreed to offer it with my sign explaining the sale and she would put out a copy to see what would happen. My first attempt at outside marketing is on!

I will not shop for a Cadillac yet, but the fun continues. My next target is either the store in Brookfield or the Beaver Den Diner.  Wish me luck!

MARKETING A BOOK IS TOUGH

Marketing is tough! My first book, listed below as e book and paperback did well for the first couple of months. It sold five or more copies a month, but some of that was relatives and so on.

Now, not much is happening.  I am in the process of trying a local book sale in a frequently visited diner or a local library. I just have to gt the confidence and the nerve up to take the next step.  One diner owner took a copy of my book to read but did not respond to my request to sell the book at her establishment. We will see how that turns out tomorrow when I go to breakfast at her diner in Sherburne, NY.

I hope to have good news to report. Boy, ain't this authoring fun??  Books links follow:
